Short posts. Longer than a tweet.

We are having some Webex issues today and I went to the status site to see if anything was reported. I pulled up and I am greeted by this guy.

Picture of a man in a green shirt behind a laptop with a green check above his open hand and the text Al Systems are Go! Webex is running smoothly with no issues.
Webex status man.

Now where have I seen this before…?

Bear in Sandals

I am so happy this statue exists.

It’s so joyful and fun. The bear sits overlooking Lake Needwood. The park where he lives is my favorite place to walk. It’s about 2.5 miles around the lake. It usually takes me about 90 minutes to complete the loop when armed with my camera or Pokemon Go.

Ask forgiveness and not permission.
Otherwise you’ll never get permission, and never get denied that permission. You’ll exist in a state of limbo for as long as you wait to take action. Then when you finally do take action, you’ll be chastised for taking action without permission (that was never coming).

The Breaking News Consumer’s Handbook: Active Shooter Edition

On the Media has a number of handbooks for how to deal with certain situations. Since we’re now all potentially breaking news and media figures, the active shooter edition is good advice to keep in mind.

There’s a printable PDF edition if you want to keep it near your computer or television. It’s a good reminder for all of us.

Fix Publicize no longer publicizing your posts

Publicize, the part of Jetpack that pushes my posts to Social Mediaâ„¢ has stopped working recently. It turns out to be an issue with the plugin after the last update.
There is a manual fix from the developer.

If you’re comfortable editing files, you’ll need to go to *YOUR DOMAIN*/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/publicize
Open the publicize-jetpack.php file and remove the lines shown here

I removed lines 362-380, saved the changes and now Publicize is working again. I’m sure they’ll include a fix in the next Jetpack update, but this will get you up and running again until then.
